Fresh coconuts are also considered to be excellent "food for hair" - sprinkle grated coconut over salads, sliced fresh fruits, or rice.

Ayurveda considers foods with artificial components and chemical compounds stripped of their inherent "intelligence" and therefore not useful in bringing nutrition to your body and mind. Ice-cold beverages also put obstacles in the way of process of digestion of nutrients.

Use relaxation techniques such as meditation. Relaxing or uplifting music can have good therapeutic effect. Get respective, good quality sleep to assist the natural process of rejuvenation.

- Ayurvedic herbs that improve hair health are Eclipta alba and Gotu Kola. They nourishe the hair and helps resistance to stress as well, helps balance the mind.

- stay away from harsh artificial products that can damage hair over time. If you wash your hair more than three times a week, you should be sure to use soft, natural shampoos and conditioners. Shampoos and conditioners that contain natural botanicals are even better.

- a warm oil scalp massage two or three times a week will help in stimulating and moisturizing head and skin. Use fresh and qualitative coconut, almond or olive oil.

Ayurvedic hair oils also include some of the herbs mentioned above. Leave the oil on overnight if you can, if not, leave on for at least an hour or two, then wash it away by shampooing your hair. The head massage aids you relax and helps sleep as well.

- never attack wet hair with a brush or fan, no matter how rushed for time you are. Muddles in wet hair are best removed with a wide-toothed comb. Use a wooden comb because it does not generate static electricity. Excessive fan-drying can damage hair in the long-term, making it fragile and end-splitted. If you can, let your hair dry in natural way.

- brush your hair regularly to arouse the scalp. It will keep it looking healthy and brilliant. Brush the hair each night in all directions in turn - left to right, right to left, front to back and back to front with smooth long strokes from scalp to hair-tips.
