The room temperature method (soapmaking)

The room temperature method

- Prepare your soap mold and measure out the additives such as fragrance, pigments, botanicals or any soap bits you may be using.

- Measure out and place all hard oils (butters, palm oil, tallow, lard, coconut oil, etc) into your soap jar.

- Measure out the liquid oils and put them aside.

- Prepare your lye solution by first measuring out the water and then the sodium hydroxide. Slowly pour the sodium hydroxide into the water and slowly stir until all the crystals dissolve.

- Now you can softly pour it over the hard oils in your soap jar. The lye solution will become very hot due to chemical reaction and this heat will melt your hard oils. Softly place the hard oils down into the lye solution with your churn staff and slowly stir until the hard oils have completely melted.

- Pour the liquid oils to the soap jar and using your stick blender, mix until it traces.

- You can now add your fragrance, colouring pigments and other ingridients. Blend the mixture and pour into your soap mold. Cool it.

- It is done!
